Finding someone you have a lot in common with is hard, but it’s not impossible. Recently, I met someone I had so much in common with; I thought we would be perfect together. Although it turns out that no matter how well you get along with someone, and no matter how much you have in common, things won’t always happen the way you want them to. Long story short I thought he was incredible and so much like me. It ended as quickly as it started and completely shocked me. Of course I am hurt that it only lasted a month and feel like I was hardly given a chance, but I have learned a couple things in the last couple days. The winds change.
I met someone who reminded me how much I love sailing. The feeling of heeling over under strong winds is thrilling. I have learned that some winds will carry you all the way home, and others are just a puff in your sails. Large puffs of wind can be exciting but they don’t last a long time. Your boat might heel over, you may adjust your sails, and glide on top of the water for a few minutes, but puffs of wind don’t last.
I feel like there is a reason for everything, even if that reason is hard to find. I suppose I’ve learned that it is important to let the wind carry you and see where you end up. Letting the wind carry you and living in the moment is exciting. Winds die down and the fun may seem lost, but good memories were made along the way – don’t forget them. Memories make everything worth it. No matter how and when the winds die down, don’t lose memory of the adventure you just had. Do remember the good, forget the bad, and keep your eye on the horizon; there are more exciting things to come.
