One thing you should know is that I don’t like to drive. When I lived in Seattle for school, I didn’t need a car. I could walk or take the bus anywhere that I needed to go. So after 3 years of not driving a car, I got really nervous if I knew I had to drive somewhere, anywhere, even a mile to the grocery store. However, since moving to Port Orchard, I have gotten a lot of practice driving. I still don’t want to drive in high traffic areas. So when I go home to Snohomish, or visit friends in Seattle I take a ferry to avoid driving through Tacoma. This weekend instead of walking on the ferry like I did last weekend, I drove on. It was my first time driving in Downtown Seattle! Crazy I know. It was actually kind of fun, I am finally starting to enjoy driving a bit.
My adventures this weekend:
1. Went Exploring in Seattle
I took the Southworth-Fauntleroy Ferry to West Seattle on Friday morning. Even after years of living near the Puget Sound, I LOVE taking the ferry. I always feel like I am about to go on an adventure. In Seattle, I went to the Washington Park Arboretum to walk around with some friends, then stayed the night. We were too busy exploring, so I didn’t take any at the park. But here is a pretty one from the ferry ride.
2. Made jiaozi
Saturday, my friend Elizabeth joined me on my way back to Port Orchard. We took the Seattle-Bremerton ferry home, this ferry ride is pretty long. But it gave us the opportunity to sit and chat while she knitted and I wrote a short post about a Valentine’s Day art project that I made last week. When we got home we made jiaozi (potstickers) from scratch. They were delicious!
3. Milked cows.
Saturdays and Sundays are my nights to milk. Since Elizabeth came to visit, I taught her how! It was really fun to watch her with the cows. It reminded me how nervous I was the first time I milked them. Sunday night was not so fun. I was trying to watch the Super Bowl but I had to quit early to go milk the cows. At least I tried to watch, I made it through 3 quarters!
{I will add a picture of the cows as soon as I track one down! I know Elizabeth took some}
4. Visited a State Park
Sunday morning we went to Illahee State Park in Bremerton. We hiked the short but steep trails, explored the beach, and I even got her to toss the frisbee with me. Yay for not having to toss alone! (My February goal is to toss everyday)
What were you up to this weekend?
