I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and as long as I can remember I have had a football/birthday party with my family to watch the Super Bowl. Rarely is it on my actual birthday, but it is usually the same week. The last time the Seahawks played I remember getting exited so I clicked through the calender on the computer to find out when the Super Bowl would be on my Actual birthday. 2014! I would be turning 21! And with a crazy twist in fate, our team made it! The Seahawks came and conquered! A little bit of birthday magic.
I don’t have to tell anyone how incredible the game was, you saw it too. The spirit of the 12th man flew across the country and no words can describe the feeling of being a Hawks fan right now. Living in Seattle and watching our home team was so exciting. The house was packed with family, friends, tons of food and cake. The sound of cheering came from inside the house and the streets.
After the game we ran outside and started cheering. We could hear people shouting everywhere! Even the ships along the Lake Washington Ship Canal were blaring their fog horns to celebrate!
To finish off the night we went into Ballard. Everyone was honking and yelling “Go Hawks!” from their cars. People filled the streets with blue and green. Complete pride for our city. Experiencing the unity and sense of community radiate from Seattle was incredible. What could be better than turning 21 the day Seahawks made history!
